I finished with the bulk of the hard work for the sculpture and got the last of the sleeves in place this morning. This afternoon I began the prep and groundwork for what will be the Grand Rapids prints. I kinda think my print punch list above will become a print too but first I Read more...
Starting to find a resolution to the coffee cup sleeve line. On some level it has been the most difficult part of this since I am trying to make it do new things the sleeves have never done for me before. I hope tomorrow to get them knocked out and finished.
Spent today gettin my sleeve on. Focused on defining the outside wall edge, and problem solving the installation of the sleeves. Tomorrow will be a good day for laundry and powerpoint preparation. Hopefully will be setting lights, and making prints by the weekend. I still need to flesh out some areas, but should probably sleep Read more...
The inclusion of the Herman Miller Bench is nearly complete. Soon it will be tucked away safely inside the Grand Rapids piece for the duration of Artprize.
With Today’s progress I am finally starting to get the play of interior and exterior experiences of the piece that I have been chasing since arrival. When approached from Read more...
Today was a day no sleeves would die. I managed to start inserting and laying up what will be the stacked sleeve line for this show. On Tuesday September 11th, I was in my painting studio in the morning and told about the disaster, then came back that evening determined to make better work.
Soon the Herman Miller bench will go bye, bye. Ever since the Arkadelphia Piece last year I have wanted the chance to include a bench inside a piece, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to include such an iconic bench
the stacked sleeve line sculpture, peeking into the corner here, should start to come into Read more...
Day two was another lovely day working in the fishbowl. I got to witness a three car fender bender that netted me a captive audience of folks clutching their insurance and registration cards.
So that I wouldn’t come up short on work time I began unpacking and assembling the sleeve sculpture today too.
Although this last image Read more...
I arrived in the gallery this morning to a familiar sight. The all too familiar stack of fresh sticks.
I also brought with me several stacked and unstacked sections of a possible sleeve sculpture to be included in this piece.
It is no accident that a Herman Miller Bench is here, since I am in the land Read more...
