Make Ends Meet Opens a three person show with Olek and Mathew Curran opens Friday June 1st at Make Ends Meet, a three person show with Olek and Mathew Curran opens Friday June 1st at Flanders gallery and runs through July 21. Beginning July 2nd I will switch over to artspace raleigh to begin my time as their summer artist in residence. While there I will be expanding on the recent coffee ground wall drawings I began in January as well as revisiting the coffee cup lid walls.
Day 6 and Day 7 became some days working down on the ground and not on the lift. I hope to put in a couple more long days resolving the piece and then move on to preparing for the opening. We’ve got all the prints laid out and I just need to finish the stick and sleeve piece and possibly procure some straws if time allows.
Today is about the halfway point in terms of viable productive workdays for this show. It is nice to see some resolution of the stick piece and know where to head to resolve the interior and exterior spaces. Today also saw the initial layout of the wall works. I plan to sleep on this mid-point progress and attack it again fresh in the morning.
Day 4 saw the arrival of artist number two as Mathew Curran lays out his stencils on the floor in the background. I’m happy with the progress as me and the lift will soon part company and I will move to the ladder to finish the lower sections.
I get nervous when progress is easy and I get nervous when progress is difficult, so I guess I’m just nervous. But so far the progress from the skylight to ground floor has been as expected. In the next couple of days the art and walls from the previous show will move out of the way and the other artists for this show
Today was the first full day at the Flanders gallery installing my work for the Make Ends Meet exhibition that opens June 1st. I was able to get the sleeve piece re-stacked and tensioned in the air. The sleeves here are what came down from the most recent sleeve piece at Columbia College in March.

I feel like these deadlines and work have snuck up on me. I am actively preparing for when I go on site next week to start building and installing my contribution to the 3 person show Make Ends Meet at The Flanders Gallery along with Crocheted Olek and Mathew Curran.
