Make Ends Meet, a three person show with Olek and Mathew Curran opens Friday June 1st at Flanders gallery and runs through July 21. Beginning July 2nd I will switch over to artspace raleigh to begin my time as their summer artist in residence. While there I will be expanding on the recent coffee ground wall drawings I began in January as well as revisiting the coffee cup lid walls. I also plan to begin exploring more tensioned structures with the stacked sleeves. When Make Ends Meet closes in mid July I will haul the remaining materials from that show over to my studio at artspace and begin integrating them into whatever I have already been making. In the meantime though here are some images of the current show.
The flanders gallery space provided some really interesting architecture to play with including a large skylight and a lovely cooling system.
The exterior of the building also provided a new context to re-present the fortunes that comprised Field of good frotune in 2011 here
I now see a lot of potential to expand and realize the complete vision i have for field of good fortune in the future. Hopefully the good folks who make things happen public artwise in Raleigh will be just as supportive and enthusiastic as the core of folks who helped fund and realize the first version were.
