I finished with the bulk of the hard work for the sculpture and got the last of the sleeves in place this morning. This afternoon I began the prep and groundwork for what will be the Grand Rapids prints. I kinda think my print punch list above will become a print too but first I need to complete all of the items on it.
One of the many toys available here at kcad is a larger bed etching press. This will allow me to make some bigger stir stick embossings than I have made in the past. Generally I have been making full sheet 22″x30″ embossings, this press bed will accomodate up to about 40″x60″. I’ve got the sticks in place I just need to procure some paper and then I will be on my way.
Of course I can’t pass up the opportunity to pull some more screenprints. Along with more fortunes I am trying some zen slogans of my own invention this time.
This is a lithography plate created by using a section of woven sticks as a stencil and spray painting through it. Morgan the printmaker here has the plate under etch and by sunday we will know if it turns out or not.
I also prepped three new fortunes for printing. Tomorrow I gotta hit the paper store, and then get back to the print studio, and hopefully out to the Meijer sculpture garden before they close. I hope to document the installation sunday and enjoy my remaining days before hitting the road again next week.
