And on the fourth day npr began their September 11th 10years later coverage. It is so interesting to me, and scary that I can remember clearly when it happened. That Monday September 10th 2011, I would have been in my art history class in the morning, and in the studio in the afternoon. On Tuesday September 11th, I was in my painting studio in the morning and told about the disaster, then came back that evening determined to make better work. I suppose ten years is a long time, but it feels short to me because September 11th coincided with my commitment to improve my work, and get on with my life. Outside of the memorials though, Saturday is still my favorite day for npr in the background, all the best shows roll through in one block.
I am starting to get a sense of how the Grand Rapids piece will feel and tomorrow I will start to tackle the sleeve placement. I am hopeful, barring any setbacks, that before my time here is done I will get to make some prints. Unfortunately I left my print notebook at home, but I think the steps for litho, go levigate it, gum it, talc it, laquer it, rub it, smack it down? no wait that sounds wrong.
