    2009-2011

    North Charleston, SC

Big Water BottleBasket,2008, is comprised of thousands of discarded steel spikes, which have been welded together one at a time to create the form. The sculpture was created as a meditation on the portable consumer fetish object of the water bottle and the significant role that baskets played in the gathering of water in early cultures. The piece was begun while in residence at the Vermont Studio Center in the winter of 2007 and completed in my studio in Charleston In 2008. In 2009 it was permanently installed in the North Charleston river front park.
