The past 48 hours have been a blur from sticks to prints from prints to lids, from lids to sticks to sleeves and at some point I think I ate some food. As I head into the final functional working days of the residency I look forward to seeing everything getting resolved. As more of each element is fleshed out the stronger the interactions and connection points between work becomes. What was really sweet today was seeing the framed prints assembled together. It was like visiting with all the great printmakers I met over the last couple of years. There is work pulled in from at least 4 of the many print marathons conducted in the past 2 years. Much like the naming of the sculptural works in this series, the prints are often times named after the place where they were printed. This helps me keep track of an essentially untitled body of work. It also means that when I call up that print, its title helps remind me where I was when I was making it. This is why the freshly printed “Richmond Impression” will be interesting to have in the show, because it will help me remember where I am.
