Note my protractor consisting of bailing wire and a ticondaroga hb pencil. Evidence of the lid walls layout process.
Today I was able to get on pace with bringing this area of the stick form from the vent to the cracks in the floor. Tomorrow I will work on stabilizing and expanding other sections of the stick piece. Hopefully by Saturday or Sunday I will have the defining footprints, anchor points and high sections laid in so I can spend the rest of the residency filling in the form.
Note: Among the many firsts that the Richmond show marks ; The first time that a venue has cold called me and given me a show, the first time I have shown in Virginia, the first time I have had full run of a three room venue, the first time that fully framed prints selected by a curator are in the show, and the first time that I have had other people helping make the work. Today I “trained” Shannon in the fine art of pinning lids to the wall in radiating patterns using satin pins and a small hammer. Next week I should have some more help with finishing the lid wall and assembling the sleeve line. I need to make nametags or t shirts for “team brilliant” maybe that will be the prints I pull this time, team jerseys and nametags…
