Today was the day where the finished look of the show started to take shape. I was able to get the last of the lid pieces laid in. The reverse brown circle will be the place where the viewer experiences the most after image sensation when standing in front of the lid circles. I also got to lay in a coffee ground stain background for the gr impressions prints. It was great after all these years to mess with coffee grounds again since the first “Goldsworthy of the Coffee Shop” performance in 2004 involved scattering espresso dust. I hope to finish the bulk of the work by the end of the day tomorrow, so that Tuesday and Wednesday can be clean up and lighting days, plus there’s a white whale I’ve been stalking that was just sighted off the starboard bow of the center.
To help tickle the eyeballs some more the central circle will be brown and white. Hopefully I still have enough of each color left to fill in, guess i’ll find out tomorrow
This reminds me, i need to start working on the rest of the sleeve line and figure out where else it wants to go.
After 2 years of forgetting, I finally remembered to include my favorite travel crate in the installation.
zen buddhist say that the true character of an artist is revealed in how they draw a circle, I guess my character is an adult plastic sippy cup lid.
A little British wall rubbing with genuine cafe bustello used coffee grounds.
