  • move in day

so i inherited these nifty metal drawer thingys, from the previous tenantso this was how my day started organizing and cataloging all the styrofoam, that pile in front of me is like half of what i got

this is some of the mess/materials that were left behindmy first reflected introspective self protrait in the new studio, a big moment, if you look in th relfection you can see how nice and clean and empty the studio is right now.
finally started to get unpacked a little bit

so today i started the process of moving in and cleaning up my new studio. I can’t offer much except that I am really excited about the possibilities in this space. while I was cleaning up the remnants of the previous tenant i found a cache of really great materials. There was a lifetimes supply of styrofoam which will be great for carving patterns for castings, and there were mountains of glass which will probably be used for the sumter show. Today was also one of the hottest days, which made me wish i had gotten around to cutting my hair, since it began to feel like a wool hat on my head, oh well maybe soon. right now I am too anxious to get working in the studio to give up time and scheduling for anything else. I have a backlog of work I need to start, not to mention the task of slowly converting this space into a comfortable and functional studio. I have given myself until the end of the week to get the studio up and running, so that hopefully in the coming weeks I can have people by for studio visits. saturday night I went to the si jae byun opening at redux and had a good time I saw alot of the great people who keep alive the hope of contemporary art in charleston, which by the way is a thankless job. Tomorrow I hope to finish moving everything else into the studio, and continue un-packing and getting set up to work.
