  • getting caught up with water bottles

Although I have to figure some things out before i go to orangeburg next weekend to start making that piece, i still have some loose ends here. After a year of working off an on with it I feel like i finally resolved the big ass water bottle made of welded steel spikes. I decided to make it white and give it a signature water bottle look with a blue top.
these pictures are deceptive, i am only halfway through painting it. I have to lay it down to paint it so i can get inside and out. And don’t worry I have been spraying outside, and wearing a respirator, even i don’t like paint fumes.
when i finish painting this i will fix up the water bottle display case with the cast plaster water bottles and get a lighting unit in it. If everything works out i should be able to show the water bottle with the accompanying little water bottles. It will be interesting if i could make a body of work that i could just refer to as “coffee and a water please” since that is generally what i like to drink.

in the picture above you can see the corner there where i still need to finish painting.
so this is something i am going to play with a bit. I used to take these panoramic shots of mine and brookes old apartment and then i would print them as 8×10’s and piece them together. I never did anything with it but when i was working in new york on the dam stuhltrager piece, i took the same type of pics of the piece so i am playing around with that. When i am staying in columbia during the installation of the sc state piece i plan to work on printing a suite of photographs with a friend. For a couple of years now i have been taking pictures of coffee cups, lids, and other debris related to the coffee shop. I have been reformatting these images as square prints and friend is supposed to let me print them on his printer, but that all depends on how well the sc state build goes. I have been snowed under trying to finish the pile of applications due in the next two weeks. and for some reason i cant get warren buffets words out of my head, ” when others are greedy we should be fearful, and when others are fearful we should be greedy” he said it during his brilliant interview with charlie rose, where among other things he should his tremendous faith in our markets, likening them to a long distance runner who just suffered a heart attack, watch the interview if you have fifty minutes to devote to charlie rose.
