It’s the Middle of the second week of my 4 weeks at Artspace, and “To Weave. To Stack. To Stain” is moving at a manageable clip. I was able to get the lid wall corners laid in after several days of satin pin hammering. Also I now have the pattern for the coffee grounds laid in on the brick walls, and the first sets of sleeves, the ones from the Conway show in January, restacked and in place.
Rather than suspending the sleeves from the ceiling down like in the past 4 versions, this time I am trying to lay them in from the ground up. This is the joy and benefits of being in a low ceilinged space again.
This is one of the two alternating coffee ground circles patterned off and ready for it’s shmear of cafe bustello.
The alternating lid corners went in mostly without incident. Surprisingly after being pinned removed and re-pinned at least 4 times I am only losing a few lids per gig. I am beginning to notice some of the slight color changes in various lids that have already been installed under gallery lighting. For me it adds a subtle patina to what were once uniformly colored plastic circles. I imagine after this years version of the lids I will pack them away in their tupperware containers until another wall is available in some other locale next year.
