  • A sweet suite of Prints, and the brief road ahead

Along with the installation in fresno, seen here

I also created a new suite of prints, and a set of sparkle printed t shirts. This work like many of the editions i’ve pulled in the past 3 years have been the result of enthusiastic printmakers like Matt Hopson-Walker, and his crew Jason Bonilla and Grayson Brown, who all pitched in their energy and know how to pull off an absurd amount of work in between my building of the Fresno Piece.

Tomorrow I will be doing a talk and hands activity with a group of North Carolina Teachers as part of the Big Picture programming at the North Carolina Museum of Art, More information here http://ncartmuseum.org/calendar/event/2012/09/22/workshop_absolutely_brilliant_problem_solving1/

At the same time that I will working with the teachers a horde of screaming children led by curator Lia Newman will be de-installing To Weave. To Stack. To Stain. which has been up at Artspace since August. It seems like a lifetime ago that I built this show, but all things must end.

Monday I will zip down to Charleston to give a talk  on my installation work and share some of my recent prints and editions created on the road over the last couple of years. The event is a donor event at The Halsey Institute of Contemporary art, and you can get more information here,

    http://halsey.cofc.edu/events/soup-to-nuts-with-jonathan-brilliant-september-24-630pm/

if you are already a patron member  rsvp and come and have soup with us. If you arent, and you are in Charleston and interested in going contact the Halsey, or me and maybe you can be my guest for this “nutty” event.

After this, on Thursday September 27 I head off to Birmingham Alabama to begin work in a semi-secret location on a new installation for Roam Projects and curator Greg Wingo.

The show is titled  ”In Tension” and will be the result of 8 very intense days working on site. Once I complete Birmingham on October 6th, I will  be back on the ground in Raleigh to work on a woven and welded steel commission. This steel piece will ultimately be a permanent outdoor work and once the details of it’s unveiling are confirmed I will post them here. Now I would like to thank Dallas Ft Worth for providing free wifi while I am laid over waiting to get home.
